Extended Access

There are now Extended Access appointments for routine care available at Park Surgery, One Life.  Appointments are provided by Central Middlesbrough PCN and are available Monday to Friday 6pm - 8pm and Saturday 9am - 5pm.  If you would like to book one of these appointments please speak to a receptionist.

NHS services across the North East & North Cumbria Region are experiencing extremely high demand at the moment – this includes GP practices and the 111 service which are both extremely busy.

If you need advice for a minor/mild illness or injury, in the first instance, please either contact your local pharmacy for help or look at the self-care advice that’s available on-line from the NHS at www.nhs.uk

To check your symptoms, there is an on-line symptom checker available at 111.nhs.uk, which will re-direct you to a health professional if you need to be consulted by someone.

If the surgery is closed and you require urgent medical assistance which cannot wait until the surgery re-opens, please ring 111.

Calls to NHS 111 are free from both landlines and mobiles.

If you have a life threatening medical emergency, please dial 999

Patient Information

Medication Supply and Medication Shortages

Patients are requested to

  • Only order the medicines that they need, and not to request prescribers to increase quantities of medication prescribed in order to stockpile medications.
  • Check the expiry date of any unused medication at home, and if in date use these medications first.

Please do not order extra medication.

Medication Shortages

There are a number of reasons why community pharmacies may not always be able to get medication that is prescribed on patient’s prescriptions.

These include:

  • Manufacturers having problems with manufacturing unit and medication therefore not meeting quality standards for use
  • Manufacturers having difficulty in obtaining ‘raw’ ingredients
  • More patients being prescribed a particular medication

Medication Supply – Brexit

The Government has asked patients not to order extra medicines in the run up to Brexit. They have also asked suppliers and pharmacists not to stockpile medicines and GPs not to prescribe more medicines than they usually would. This is because overprescribing, and stockpiling of medicines can contribute to the shortage problems and create medicine shortages for others. Patients should be assured that the Government has contingency plans with regard to medication supplies, including centrally holding additional supplies.
